LLA & Wizz hit 65 million passenger milestone

More than 65 million passengers have now travelled with Wizz Air from London Luton Airport (LLA).

The milestone 65 millionth passenger was welcomed on a flight from London Luton Airport to Istanbul. Wizz Air has a longstanding relationship with London Luton Airport, the destination for the airline’s first flight from Katowice in Poland.

Jonathan Rayner, Chief Commercial Officer at London Luton Airport, said: “The success of Wizz Air at London Luton Airport is testament to our strong partnership. Since that first flight in 2004, both Wizz and LLA have made huge advances, achieving impressive growth in both passenger numbers and the choice of destinations. Our priority, as ever, is to continue to deliver a simple and friendly passenger experience as we move towards the next key milestone of our relationship with Wizz – next year’s 20th anniversary.”

Wizz Air currently operates around 100 flights per day to 58 routes. Last month, the airline announced that London Luton Airport would be an all A321neo base by 2025.

Wizz Air and LLA have also announced a new route to Sphinx International Airport, the perfect destination to explore the city of Giza and the vibrant Egyptian capital of Cairo.

Giza is perfect for history enthusiasts, as the site of the iconic Great Pyramid, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and The Great Sphinx, which dates back to the 26th century BC.

The new route to Sphinx International Airport will provide passengers travelling from LLA with an opportunity to explore the bustling capital of Cairo, a modern metropolis in an ancient world, which is set along the famous Nile River and within travelling distance to the breathtaking architectural designs in the Valley of the Kings and Queens.

The new route will take off each Monday, Wednesday and Friday and will start from October 30th.
