In a heartwarming gesture of appreciation, London Luton Airport (LLA) staff organised an unforgettable canine-friendly picnic for International Dog Day (26th August) to honour the hardworking police dogs that have safeguarded the airport throughout the Summer.
Guests included Hunter, a spirited 5-year-old golden Labrador, 7-year-old Springer spaniel Laser, and 5-year-old black Labrador Neds.
Hosted during their break, the special attendees were treated to a dog-friendly tipple and a range of delicious dog treats including cookies, cakes and doughnuts and summer-themed toys such as ice lolly chews and fruit-shaped toys, as a token of appreciation from the airport to celebrate their dedicated service over the past six years.
The four-legged security professionals are pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of the airport's staff and the nearly 16 million passengers that have travelled through the airport over the past 12 months.
Clare Armstrong, Head of Passenger Services at London Luton Airport, said: “Ahead of International Dog Day, we decided to throw our police dogs a special picnic to thank them for their hard work over the Summer. Hunter, Ned and Laser have worked at the airport for several years and help us deliver a simple and friendly service to our passengers. Every day, they protect passengers and staff at London Luton Airport by conducting patrols and searches with Bedfordshire Police. We hope they enjoyed the canine-friendly picnic and thank them for the ongoing dedicated service to the airport.”
