LLA among Europe’s best

London Luton Airport (LLA) has been Highly Commended at the prestigious ACI Europe Best Airport Awards.

The recognition follows LLA being crowned Best European Airport (10-25m passengers) in the same awards in 2024, and being named in the top 10 of Skytrax Best Low-Cost Airports, in the Skytrax World Airport Awards.

The ACI Europe Best Airport Awards are the industry’s highest accolade recognising outstanding airport performance and achievement, celebrating innovation, sustainability, and outstanding passenger experiences.

Judges praised LLA for its strong commitment to delivering wider social value. They highlighted the airport’s impactful community initiatives, particularly its focus on education, skills and career opportunities, as well as its inclusive accessibility programmes. Overall, the panel described the airport as “remarkable across all areas,” recognising its success in extending its role beyond core operations.

LLA received the award at ACI Europe’s 36th Annual Congress and General Assembly hosted in Prague, Czech Republic.

Alberto Martin, Chief Executive of London Luton Airport, commented: “We’re delighted to be named among the best airports in Europe. This recognition reflects London Luton Airport’s ambition, performance and progress across all aspects of our operation as we continue to deliver our vision to be the UK's simplest and friendliest major airport. I am extremely proud and thankful to all of our teams and partners whose passion, professionalism and collaboration have made this possible".

The ACI Europe Best Airport Awards are judged by an independent panel of industry experts and recognise airports of all sizes across the continent. Being named Highly Commended in 2026 places LLA among the top-performing airports in Europe.

Airlines include Jet2, easyJet, Wizz Air, Ryanair, Tui, FlyOne, Sun Express, El Al and Jazeera.

The airport is owned for community benefit by Luton Rising, a company wholly-owned by Luton Council, which has invested more than £500m in front-line, voluntary and charitable services since 1998.

In 2024, LLA was named European Airport of the Year (10-25 million passengers) by ACI EUROPE, and in 2025 LLA received the highest possible rating of 'Very Good' in the annual Airport Accessibility report published by the CAA, assessing assisted travel service performance.
