London Luton Airport (LLA) has published its latest Responsible Business Strategy (RBS), setting out the evolving targets and commitments that will shape the next three years of the airport’s sustainability activity.
With several flagship initiatives, the new RBS focuses on four key themes: People, Community, Infrastructure and Partnerships. Key initiatives will include the continued decarbonisation of LLA’s fleet and ground handling operations, self-generation electricity supply and the launch of a new community education programme.
Alberto Martin, Chief Executive Officer at London Luton Airport, commented: “As a progressive airport, we are committed to delivering continued, positive change for our local communities, the economy and the environment. LLA’s evolving RBS objectives underline the airport’s ambition to be a champion of sustainable aviation and demonstrate the important role we play in the region. Our RBS is based on the principles of collaboration, transparency and innovation, creating a mindset that ensures sustainability is rooted in our operations and culture and ensuring that we continue to operate ethically and grow responsibly. We have achieved several important milestones since launching our first RBS in 2020, and it’s vitally important that we continue to build upon this momentum across all aspects of our operation. ”
Also published today, LLA’s 2023 Sustainability Performance Report, outlines progress over the past five years and provides an update on its environmental and social sustainability impact in 2023.
Key highlights include:

I am immensely proud of the progress we have made. Our latest sustainability report highlights the significant strides that we have taken as we work towards our target to become a Net Zero carbon airport by 2040”
