New figures reveal that London Luton Airport’s (LLA) free Prebook Security service* has become a major hit. The airport is prepared to welcome more than 190,000 passengers over the Easter bank holiday weekend, as holidaymakers take advantage of the longer break, jetting off in search of spring sunshine and city breaks.
Prebook Security is now a firm favourite with passengers, with more than 95% of those taking advantage of the service scoring a 5/5 satisfaction response. Passengers looking to steal a march on fellow travellers can book the service and skip security queues by reserving a 30-minute slot ahead of their arrival at the airport. Reservations can be made from four days before a flight, and up until 60 minutes before arrival at the airport. A survey of passengers using the service has revealed that almost 45% did so to avoid queues.
Passengers flying from LLA can also enjoy an even greater choice of sunny destinations, as Wizz Air launches six exciting new routes to Spain, Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Alicante and Seville. Popular destinations for Easter city breakers travelling from the airport include Amsterdam, Budapest, Dublin, Geneva, Paris, Rome and Verona, while ever popular holiday hotspots Larnaca, Malaga, Paphos and Zante reflect an equally strong demand for warmer climes.
Clare Armstrong, Head of Guest Experience at London Luton Airport, commented: “Easter is always an exciting time at London Luton Airport, as families look to take advantage of the school holidays and city breakers decide to make the most of the long weekend to escape. We are seeing strong passenger numbers across the Easter holidays, and it’s clear to see that the new destinations featuring on our departure boards are all set to become instant favourites. The growing popularity of our Prebook Security service, along with the convenience of the bag drop options now being offered by airlines such as easyJet, Jet2 and Wizz**, are all adding to the simple and friendly passenger experience that our teams take so much pride in.”
Members of the airport’s free rewards programme, myLLA, can also benefit from a range of exclusive Easter discount offers and promotions from participating shops including Boots, Lego® Store, Discover London and WHSmith, as well as restaurants including Chopstix, Nolito and Big Smoke. Underlining the airport’s fantastic transport links, recent data from National Express has highlighted a surge in demand for its coach services to and from LLA. The operator’s Easter bookings for travel between the airport and London, Milton Keynes, Oxford and Nottingham have risen by almost 10% combined, compared to the same period for Easter 2025***.
